Types of push messages in OnSinch

Similarly, as SMS and emails, there are two types of push notifications:

  • Manually sent push notifications
  • Automatic push notifications

Sending push notifications๐Ÿ””

  • to an individual staff member from their profile in the communication tab.
  • Communication โ†’ Push notifications โ†’ Write a message.
  • Staff โ†’ Staff list โ‡’ from here you can send push notifications to everyone or filter staff based on your criteria and send bulk push notifications to selected groups (e.g. only staff with certain professions).
  • Order detail page โ‡’ send push notification to all staff in the order.

  • Job detail page โ‡’ send push notification only to staff in specific job (1), shift (2) or position (3).


Automatic push notifications ๐Ÿ””

OnSinch can send automatically push notifications to staff members.

You always have full power over whether these notifications should be sent. Check and change the setup in Settings โ†’ Notification settings.

๐Ÿ’กNote: There is always 10-minute delay when sending automatic notifications to leave space in case of errors.

Smart channel

When managing push notifications settings you have option to use smart channel. With this setting ON push notification will be preferred way of sending the message. If staff member is not subscribed to receive push notifications they will receive SMS with the same message. The content of the message is not customizable.

With smart channel you can be sure that all of your staff members will always receive the notification - either with push notification or SMS.

โ•Smart channel works only with active SMS gateway integration.


History of sent push notifications 

Full history of all sent push notifications is available in OnSinch:

  • Communication โ†’ Push notifications to see list of all sent push notifications.
  • Communication tab in profile of each staff member.

Subscribing to push notifications

Each staff member have option to decide whether they want to receive push notifications or not. Admin cannot turn this on for individual staff member - it requires action by staff member on their device(s).

The process of subscribing to push notifications differs based on the operational system of the device.

iOs devices ๐Ÿ

To subscribe for push notifications, iPhone users needs to do following steps:

  1. Open Safari browser.
  2. Type in the agency OnSinch url and log into the system.
  3. Add boomark to your iPhone (device) home screen.
  4. Open bookmark with OnSinch and allow push notifications via button on dashboard or from notification settings in the profile.

Android devices ๐Ÿค–

To subscribe on Android devices 

  1. Open Chrome browser.
  2. Type in the agency OnSinch URL and login to the system.
  3. Add bookmark to your home screen - this step is not mandatory but handy.
  4. Open OnSinch and allow push notifications via the button on the dashboard or from notification settings in the profile.

๐Ÿ’กTip: Go to theme settings to make sure you have the correct logos that are used on devices ( square logo for home screen and monochromatic logo for alerts)


Receiving push notifications

Manual push notifications are sent instantly, automatic ones are sent with 10 minutes delay in case you correct your actions. 

Receivers see the push notification on locked and unlocked screens depending on their device and settings. Clicking on the message will open their OnSinch account.

                       


Tracking push notifications subscriptions

You have always available complete overview about which staff members are subscribed to receive push notifications.

  • In staff member profile on the basic tab:

  • In summary box when hovering over the staff member name:

  • In your staff list using the respective filter option:

Subscribed devices 

You can see and filter all devices that are subscribed to receive push notifications. It is possible to remove certain devices if needed but it should be done in rare cases as it can cause issues when staff member wants to re-subscribe.

  • Communication โ†’ Push notifications โ†’ Push notifications subscriptions to see a list of all subscribed devices.
  • System information section in the profile of specific staff member.
