Ratelists: National Holidays unit

Count only the hours worked on national holidays, and on Saturdays or Sundays if you want.

How it works

Each holiday counts as the whole day, from 00:00 to 24:00. The unit counts the part of the shift that falls on that day.

Example

  • 1 January is a holiday.
  • A shift from 31 December 20:00 to 1 January 04:00 has 4 hours in the unit (00:00 – 04:00).

If you also include Saturdays or Sundays, they count as whole days too. A holiday that falls on a weekend is counted only once.

How to set it up

  1. On the Units tab, click Add custom unit.
  2. Choose the type National Holidays and enter a name, for example "Holidays CZ".
  3. Choose the Country. The list of Public Holidays loads with their next dates.
  4. Untick any holidays you do not want to count.
  5. Under Weekends, tick Include Saturdays and/or Include Sundays if these days should count too.
  6. Click Save.

Supported countries: Australia, Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Netherlands, Slovakia, Spain and United States.

Holiday dates are maintained by OnSinch. You can untick holidays, but you cannot add your own dates. If you need a date that is missing, please contact our support team.

Example

Holiday bonus of 100% of the base rate:

  • Rule 1: Always apply → Worked hours, €20 per hour, "Basic Hour Wage".
  • Rule 2: Always apply → "Holidays CZ", 100% of "Basic Hour Wage", "Holiday bonus".

12c-2-holiday-bonus-example

A shift on 24 December from 08:00 to 16:00 (8 hours):

  • Base: 8 × €20 = €160
  • Holiday bonus: 8 × €20 × 100% = €160

Total: €320.

Unit or condition?

  • The National Holidays unit pays only the hours on the holiday. A night shift that starts on a holiday and ends the next day gets the bonus only until midnight.
  • The national holiday condition looks only at when the shift starts. If it starts on a holiday, the whole shift gets the rate.

A day that is not an official holiday (for example 31 December in Czechia) is never counted. For such days, create a separate ratelist and use it only for those shifts.

Good to know

  • Days follow your agency's time zone.
  • Unpaid breaks are taken out of the hours a custom unit counts, the same as with Worked hours. Paid breaks count as work.
  • If you also pay a weekend bonus with a Time range unit, use priorities so a holiday on a Sunday is not paid twice.
