Ratelists: Combined unit (intersection)

Count only the time that two or more units have in common, for example night hours that are also overtime.

How it works

The combined unit checks each unit you add and keeps only the time that is in all of them.

Example:

  • Combined unit: "Night 22–06" AND Overtime.
  • A shift planned 18:00 – 22:00 runs until 01:00.
  • Night hours: 22:00 – 01:00. Overtime: 22:00 – 01:00.
  • Both units have 22:00 – 01:00 in common, so the combined unit counts 3 hours.

If the shift were planned until 23:00, the overtime would be 23:00 – 01:00, and the combined unit would count only 2 hours.

Units you can combine

  • Worked hours, Planned hours, Overtime
  • Time range, National Holidays, Daily Overtime, Weekly Overtime, Number of hours worked

You need at least two units to create intersection.

How to set it up

  1. On the Units tab, click Add custom unit.
  2. Choose the type Combined (intersection) and enter a name, for example "Night overtime".
  3. In Unit 1, choose the type, for example Time range, and set it up.
  4. In Unit 2, choose the type, for example Overtime.
  5. Click Add unit to add more. Each one is joined with AND.
  6. Click Save.

The settings of each unit are set inside the combined unit. It does not use your other saved custom units, so set the times again here.

Examples

  • Night overtime: Time range (night) AND Overtime.
  • Holiday night: National Holidays AND Time range (night).
  • Weekend overtime: Time range (Saturday and Sunday) AND Daily Overtime.

Combined unit or priorities?

  • Use a combined unit when you want a special rate only for time that meets all conditions, for example a night overtime rate.
  • Use priorities when several rates cover the same hours and only the highest should be paid.

You can use both in one ratelist.

Good to know

  • Unpaid breaks are taken out of the hours a custom unit counts, the same as with Worked hours. Paid breaks count as work.
  • The combined unit is not available in transport ratelists.
