Rating is a powerful feature in OnSinch. Let's dive into all aspects of rating use in this article.
What is a rating?
A rating reflects a staff member’s reliability and experience. It can determine their wages and it can be used as a criterion for applying for work. It can be raised or lowered automatically by the application or manually by the admin.
For reliability and experience a staff member’s rating increases. The essential way to score rating points is to be at work on time; more shifts on time, more rating points, up to an established limit. For rules violations and late arrivals, the rating drops as a form of penalty. For exceptionally good or bad performance, admins can adjust both current and maximum ratings.
Rating wage
The rating can be used as an indicator of wage level. If you want to pay e.g. different wages to seniors than to juniors, using rating wage is the best practice. You just need to decide how many levels of wages you want and create corresponding records in Settings → Finance → Wagelists for it.
Here is a simple example of the usage of rating wage with two levels of rates:
If the staff member has a rating level between 0 - 10 they get 100/hour when working as a regular staff member and 150/hour when working as a crewboss. Staff with a rating of 20 and higher will receive 130/hour when regular staff and 180/hour as crewboss.
You can have as many rating wage levels as you need.

Automatic rating changes
Registration
A certain amount of rating can be added to a staff member after registering to OnSinch.
Early arrivals
OnSinch can automatically add rating to staff members for showing up on time for shifts. You can set the maximum amount of rating that can be obtained by these early arrivals. This can be set up by default for all staff but can be changed for a specific staff member in their profile if needed.
After the set maximum is reached no rating is added automatically.
Late arrivals and no-shows
The same way you can motivate your staff by rating it can be used for penalizing misbehaves. For late arrivals, OnSinch can automatically lower staff members' rating. You can set different rating losses for late arrivals that are 5, 15, and 45 minutes after the meeting time.
Furthermore, you can set how many rating points will the staff member lose if they don't show up for the shift at all.
Rating coefficient
Coefficient determines how much a staff member rating changes - it multiplies the rating deduction in case of repeated misbehaves. For each late arrival or absence, the coefficient rises by 1 point. You can set how many early arrivals a staff needs to have to lower the coefficient by 1 point. Admins can also change the rating coefficient for each staff member in their profile.
💡Tip: Go to Settings → Agency settings → Rating section to check your setup.
Manual rating changes
Admins can always adjust staff members' rating manually as needed. This can be done in the profile of a chosen staff member in rating tab.
Or you can adjust the rating of more staff members at once using bulk actions. Go to staff → staff list to filter and select chosen staff members. In the bottom click on Edit → Add rating.
In both cases don't forget to add a comment so the staff member understands the reason for rating change.
Minimal rating for joining the shift
You can set a minimal level of rating for staff to be able to sign up for shifts. This can help you to easily separate newly registered people in case they need to e.g. attend staff training before signing up for the first shift. Go to Settings → Agency settings → Jobs section to check your setup.
Rating as a requirement
You can set certain required rating levels for signing up for the chosen position(s). This can be applied to all positions on the shift or separately for staff members, lead workers, or standby roles. With this feature, you can ensure that only experienced staff will sign up for shifts when a senior level is necessary.
💡Tip: Use CMS to explain clearly your rating system logic to your staff.
You can always check all rating movements of your staff in Rating → Rating increments.
