How to close a shift with standbys

Let's look at how to close the shift with standbys. No matter if it is done by a lead worker or an administrator.

Closing the shift by the lead worker

Once the attendance is marked and the shift is finished, it is time to close the shift.

1. For the standbys that worked and were assigned to a position, the LW will just confirm their hours.

2. For the standbys who don't have an assigned position and have worked, they will confirm their hours and change the staff member's role.

  • It can happen when the LW only clocks them in on the shift but doesn't mark them as working.
  • Changing their role from a standby to a staff member will mark them as working, and a new position will be created for them.

3. Then the LW closes the shift as usual.

Closing the shift by the administrator

After the lead worker

Once the shift is pre-closed by a lead worker, the administrator can do the final closing.

1. The standbys that were assigned to a position will be there with other staff members, and the administrator will confirm their hours and wage.

2. The standbys that were changed to a staff members have a new position and were moved from the original standby position. Here, confirm their hours and wage.

💡If you need to assign the position for the standby, use the attendance builder and simply move them to the correct one.

After the clock-in

Once the shift is done and you have the record from a standby about their hours worked, move to closing the shift.

1. If the standby didn't work, leave the standby role and confirm.

2. If the standby work, change their role to a staff member in the closing form.

  • This way, a new position will be created - "working standby".

💡If you need to assign the position for the standby, use the attendance builder and simply move them to the correct one.

❗Don't forget to double-check the tags, effects, and wage for the new "working standby" position.
