Badge images: step-by-step guide

Do you struggle with image dimensions for your badges or are you looking for unified layout for all your badges images? Follow this easy quick guide for creating the best images for badges.

💡This guide uses Photopea image editor as an example, but most image editors work with raster masks in a similar way. Feel free to use whichever editor you prefer.

1. Download the mask image and prepare your image for the badge.

2. Open Photopea image editor https://www.photopea.com/.

3. Upload the mask image and your image for badge. Add mask layer as first and your picture as second layer.

4. Select the layer with your picture and in the bottom right corner of the screen, click on the option ''Add raster mask" and you will see a white box next to your picture:

5. Now we need to get the mask over your picture. Click on the first layer with mask image =>  CTRL + A => CTRL + C.

6. ALT + click on the white box next to your picture => CTRL + V to insert mask image.

7. Now you can completely DELETE the first layer with the original mask image. As a result, you will have one layer with both images - the badge mask and your picture.

8. Depending on the original size, you might need to make the image smaller or bigger to fit the whole image into the badge mask nicely.

9. Click on the checkbox "Transformation tools" in the top left corner and on the chain icon located between your images in the layer to temporarily unconnect the images. Make sure your picture is selected.

10. Drag the corners of the picture to reposition it within the circle. Hit Enter and connect the images with the chain icon back again.

11. Download your image and upload it in OnSinch in Settings > Staff >  Badges to your badge.
